Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 12 to Week 15, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Place kickers

David Akers, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Minnesota Vikings

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

    Philadelphia Eagles PK David Akers
Akers hardly a lock this week
  • Akers has typically been near automatic this year and is 10-for-10 on three-pointers over the last month. He hasn't missed one of his 44 touchdown punctuations this year.
  • The Vikes have allowed just 1.50 field goal tries per game while yielding 2.50 one-point attempts. Given the way Minny's D has performed lately, Akers might be relying more on extra points than field goals. It's hard to go against such a consistent kicker this late in the year, but don't blindly think he'll approach 10 points.

Dan Carpenter, Miami Dolphins vs. Detroit Lions

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Carp is 28-for-38 on field goal tries this year. Seven of those misses have come in the last month on 13 attempts. He's receiving attempts, even in a weak Miami offense, but can you really count on him to punch them through?
  • The Lions might keep him to extra points Detroit has allowed just 1.25 field goal tries but 2.75 one-pointers per contest. Miami should be able to do just enough to rely more on touchdowns than three-pointers.
