Fantasy football busts: PK - Week 12

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 6 to Week 11, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Place kickers

Jeff Reed, Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Despite healthy point totals in three of his last five weeks, Reed has mustered six or fewer in two of his last three. His four-field goal outing in Week 10 skewed his numbers a bit. He has made 27 extra points this year and has attempted at least three in all but four of his games this season.
  • The Ravens have allowed only 1.20 field goal tries and 1.60 one-pointers per game. They have not allowed more than 17 points in five of their last six games, meaning kickers aren't given much of a chance to contribute.
Matt Stover, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Stover has made all seven of his field goal tries, including a 40-yarder, in his Indy tenure. However, his 15 extra points make up the bulk of his kicking duties.
  • Houston has allowed just 5.6 kicking points per game, including just 1.40 field goal tries. Their 2.00 one-point attempts per outing speak more toward what Stover usually accomplishes in a deadly Colts offense.
