Fantasy Football Waiver WireFantasy Football Waiver Wire: TE - Week 4
By Bryce McRae Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DTIf you are serious about winning your fantasy league football championship, stay on top of your fantasy football team throughout the year. Each week during the NFL fantasy football season, KFFL brings you its Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, which breaks down players to pick up. Be aggressive when picking up fantasy football free agents. Even if you do not need a player, you can tuck him away for depth or block others from adding him to their fantasy football team. Note: Percentage of polled leagues in which player is available in parentheses Fantasy football free agents: Watch listThese fantasy football free agents shouldn't be on your immediate list. They may have had a big week. They may have talent but are buried on the depth chart and merely awaiting an opportunity. Still, fantasy football players must know who they are for their potential contribution in the future. Brandon Pettigrew and Tony Scheffler, Detroit Lions (89, 82 percent)
A lot is going against these two for long-term value: They've had cushy matchups the last two weeks; quarterback Matthew Stafford (shoulder) doesn't have an established rapport with either; and wideout Nate Burleson should be back from his ankle injury pretty soon. Still, Scheffler and Pettigrew combined for 13 receptions, 104 yards and a score last week. That's following Pettigrew's seven-reception, 104-yard performance in Week 2. Stafford targeted these two nine times before his Week 1 injury, and they have decent matchups until a Week 7 bye. Scheffler is the primary receiving option here, but Pettigrew, a 2009 first-round pick, might be the more talented receiver. Fantasy football free agents: One-week playsThe following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use. Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots (47 percent) New England continued their broader use of this position last week; only wideout Randy Moss saw more snaps than Hernandez among offensive skill players. Kevin Faulk's absence because of a knee injury was one reason for Hernandez's increased presence. The rook caught six passes (for 65 yards) for the second straight week. If your top TE is sitting this week, Hernandez should be a fine play against the Miami Dolphins. The New York Jets' Dustin Keller burned them for 98 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions. Hernandez is built in a mold similar to Keller's. It might be tough to fit him onto some rosters - New England's Week 5 bye doesn't make it any easier - but he's a decent speculative pick.
