Free agents to pick up in your fantasy football league
If you are serious about winning your fantasy league football championship, it is important to stay on top of your fantasy football team throughout the course of the year.
Each week during the NFL fantasy football season, KFFL brings you its Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, which breaks down players to pick up in your league. Not being aggressive in picking up fantasy football free agents is not a wise move. Sometimes, even if you do not need the player for your starting lineup, it is wise to tuck the player away for depth as well as to block others from adding the player to their fantasy football team.
Fantasy football free agents: Priority additions
The following players should be high on your radar and are worthy of being added immediately to your fantasy football team.
With injuries at running back, San Fran was forced to open the passing game a little more over the weekend. Davis, who flashed some of his tremendous potential, had seven receptions, 96 yards and two scores. On the year, he is averaging 4.7 receptions, 56 yards, 0.67 touchdowns and 7.7 targets per game. He is also seeing 1.3 looks per game inside the red zone. If you need tight end depth, he should be on your radar.
Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquire
Fantasy football leagues come in all shapes, so the following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs.
We mentioned his name last week regarding his possible place in the Lions' offensive attack. He grabbed two passes from rook Matthew Stafford for 27 yards Sunday but has nine targets in the last two weeks; the team credited his work on third downs in their Week 3 win - yes, a win. The injury to running back Kevin Smith (shoulder) could move Pettigrew up the attention ladder, too. The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder is available in about 87 percent of leagues polled.
With Chad Pennington (shoulder) landing on Injured Reserve and the inexperienced Chad Henne taking the reins, look for more reliance on the tight end position, specifically Fasano. He has only six targets and three catches on the year, so he is probably flying under your league mates' radars. Target him if you need depth or want to take advantage of a good matchup this week.
Fantasy football free agents: Watch list
These fantasy football free agents shouldn't be on your immediate list. They may have had a big week of production; they may show talent but are buried on the depth chart; they may have a chance to play sometime this season because of injuries. Still, fantasy football players must know who these players are for their potential contribution in the future.
The Pats offense has kept fantasy owners guessing about the tight end lot, and that should continue. However, Baker has seen five of his six targets come in the last two weeks and registered a 2-42-1 day, including a 36-yard scoring grab, in Week 3.
With slinger Tom Brady struggling slightly out of the gate and injuries piling up in the receiver corps, the Pats used Benjamin Watson often in Week 1 but have not looked for him much since. He only has seven looks since that first contest, in which he had seven. Though Baker's touchdown grab was an improvised play, you should at least examine his and Watson's target patterns. No hurry here, but you can find Baker available in just about every setup.
