Fantasy Football Waiver WireFantasy Football Waiver Wire: DT - Week 6
By Bryce McRae Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DTIf you are serious about winning your fantasy league football championship, stay on top of your fantasy football team throughout the year. Each week during the NFL fantasy football season, KFFL brings you its Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, which breaks down players to pick up. Be aggressive when picking up fantasy football free agents. Even if you do not need a player, you can tuck him away for depth or block others from adding him to their fantasy football team. Note: Percentage of polled leagues in which player is available in parentheses Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquireThe following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow fantasy football leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs. Green Bay Packers (30 percent) There is a chance the Pack's D might be available coming off their poor Week 4 showing and a bye in Week 5. Well, in their next seven games, they face the Detroit Lions twice, the Cleveland Browns and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even their Week 8 rematch against the Minnesota Vikings could be a source of some sacks, especially as this time around it's in Green Bay. If you need a defense for at least the next month, Green Bay is worth taking a chance on if available. Fantasy football free agents: One-week playsThe following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use. Carolina Panthers (72 percent) The Panthers finally earned their first win last week; their defense didn't register an interception in the game, but they sacked Washington Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell five times and forced two fumbles. On tap this week are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since Josh Johnson has taken over at QB, he has been sacked three times in each game and has thrown four picks. Sure, it should help Tampa's offensive line with center Jeff Faine (triceps) returning, but we still like the matchup of the backs-to-the-wall Panthers against the first-year starting QB. NEW - Kansas City Chiefs (98 percent) Running out of feasible options if you're cycling defenses? It may be time to give the Chiefs a look. Let's not get ahead of ourselves: There's a ton of risk involved here; the Chiefs have failed to generate many turnovers or a consistent pass rush. That being said, signs of improvement have surfaced. Besides two huge plays to Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, they kept Dallas' offense at bay for the most part in Week 5. Their run D has also improved - slightly. Why are they on this list? They face the Washington Redskins in Week 6; the 'Skins have allowed 2.75 sacks per contest and have not been shy about turning the ball over. Washington's offense has also struggled to score points on the back of declining back Clinton Portis and erratic quarterback Jason Campbell. If you need to take a risk, this may be your best avenue.
