Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break a season. You may have adjusted your fantasy baseball cheat sheets over and over during spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, though, you will probably have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to add players to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Diamond Market series gives you the fantasy baseball tips and advice you need to sort through the masses quickly.

Key

Acquire - Add player (in most circumstances)

Watch - Track player; consider adding if trend continues

Pass - Do not add player (in most circumstances)

First basemen

Michael Aubrey, Baltimore Orioles

The O's are giving his left-handed stick more work. We know he can hit for average (.323 in 62 at-bats for B-more since his arrival and call-up). He has five extra-base hits (including two homers, both on the road) in his last five games, too. Camden Yards is better than average in friendliness to lefty hitters. The Orioles are away against the Tampa Bay Rays and then return home for a set against the Toronto Blue Jays. Aubrey may sit against southpaws.

Shallow mixed: Pass

Deep mixed: Acquire

AL-only: Acquire

Shortstops

Michael Young, Texas Rangers

Texas Rangers 3B Michael Young
Young restless about returning

The Rangers never considered shutting down Young (hamstring), reportedly. Good move: He's expected back in the lineup Monday. He didn't seem worth a roster spot a week ago, but if someone released him, Young is worth the acquisition to see if he can provide a spark to the Rangers (and thus, you) to close things out. He's obviously eligible at the hot corner, too.

Shallow mixed: Acquire

Deep mixed: Acquire

AL-only: Acquire

Outfielders

Brett Carroll, Florida Marlins

Carroll (.271-3-18 in 118 at-bats) has received spot duty throughout the season, when he has been on the 25-man roster. He has nine hits and nine RBIs in 26 at-bats this month. Cody Ross (wrist) sounds iffy for the rest of the season, and the Fish have tired of the act of Jeremy Hermida (oblique). Carroll could be platoon player in Miami next season, for very deep players.

Shallow mixed: Pass

Deep mixed: Watch

NL-only: Acquire
