Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - AL

Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly.

Key

Acquire
Add player (in most circumstances)
Watch
Track player, add if trend continues
Pass
Do not add player (in most circumstances)

Outfielders

Josh Willingham, OF, Washington Nationals

Adam Dunn is off to a horrid start. Ryan Zimmerman (hamstring) has been hurt. Luckily, Willingham is hitting .391 with two homers and eight RBIs through his first 23 at-bats. One caveat: Four of those ribbies came on one swing.

Washington Nationals OF Josh Willingham
Not Joshin' about his value

The average likely will dip once his .389 BABIP and 1.25 BB/K ratio return to normal, but he has an 11.0 percent career walk rate and is on a positive flyball trend in his last full seasons. It's worth taking a chance on the 31-year-old in case he shows more gains. It shouldn't cost too much to do so, probably as a No. 5 mixed outfielder in most setups. He still has 25-homer potential.

Shallow mixed: Watch

Deep mixed: Acquire

NL-only: Acquire

Pitchers

Kris Benson, SP, Arizona Diamondbacks

Benson is the favorite to take the fifth rotation spot when it's needed this Saturday. Depending on Brandon Webb's (shoulder) health, this could be a permanent position for Benson. He only saw two unearned runs score on him in a Triple-A Reno start Monday. The oft-injured righty gave up just four hits and walked only one. He appears 100 percent healthy. Injuries will always be a concern with him, but daily NL-only owners should take a shot. His best years have come in the NL.

Shallow mixed: Pass

Deep mixed: Pass

NL-only: Watch
