OutfieldersLastings Milledge, OF, Pittsburgh Pirates
The Bucs aren't attending Ryan Church anymore. Milledge will be the full-time starter in right field moving forward, per manager John Russell. The embattled outfielder hit .351 over the last 18 games (16 starts) before the All-Star break, with three homers, nine RBIs, six runs scored and a 1.009 on-base plus slugging percentage (.413 on-base). His platoon splits still favor lefties (.318 compared to .255 versus righties), but Pittsburgh is at least giving him the majority share. Maybe he chips in more steals, too. Two years ago, he swiped 24 bags; he has combined for 12 since, but there's encouragement that he can turn on his wheels. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch NL-only: Acquire Lorenzo Cain, OF, Milwaukee Brewers The Brewers recalled the 24-year-old from Triple-A Nashville, where he was hitting .341 with four steals in 10 games this season. Before that, he started off the year well by batting .324 and swiping 21 bags in 244 at-bats at Double-A Huntsville. His batting eye hasn't been too bad, either. Carlos Gomez hasn't met expectations and could lose playing time. Corey Hart looks like trade bait. Cain suffered a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee last year and has steadily worked back since. His farm larceny shows his confidence has returned. Milwaukee's young steal threats - Gomez, Alcides Escobar - haven't pilfered much; the Brew Crew isn't that aggressive. Still, Cain's speed could pay off with regular playing time this year, especially since the Brewers might be sellers. Maybe they'll take the handcuffs off on the base paths and see what their young band of thieves can do. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch NL-only: Acquire PitchersMike Dunn, RP, Atlanta Braves Another citizen arrives in LIMAtlanta. The big-armed Dunn, acquired when Javier Vazquez was shipped out, compiled a sparkling 1.05 ERA with 56 K's and 22 walks in 42 2/3 innings at Triple-A Gwinnett. This southpaw might be worth a reliever rental at some point this season. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass NL-only: Watch Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - ALAbout Tim Heaney
