OutfieldersPagan's shelf life looks to be extending with the news that Carlos Beltran (knee) might not be ready to come back before the All-Star break. Pagan, 29 in July, has grown as a player since receiving extended PT last season - especially in batting eye. There's double-digit homer potential in his bat, and his flyball increase fosters that possibility. This might affect his clip if his BABIP doesn't stay high, but the possible loss there would be slightly dulled by the steals he can provide for the next month, at least, as a member of a deep outfield. Charlie Morton (shoulder) hit the DL, and Lincoln, Pitt's top arm prospect, might start at PNC Park Tuesday versus the Chicago Cubs. The Pirates have been cautious about bringing him up too soon, but the 25-year-old has had success at Triple-A Indianapolis this year (5-2 with a 3.77 ERA, 42 K's, 12 walks in 57 1/3 frames). His secondary pitches still need to grow, and his farm dominance hasn't been overwhelming. Control is his best friend. If he can get results and attack hitters aggressively upon a call-up, the former Houston Cougar could become a rotation fixture. You should probably wait to use him until after his potential debut, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't think ahead. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch NL-only: Acquire Brian Moehler, SP, Houston Astros The 38-year-old righty will fill in for the DLed Bud Norris (biceps) in the rotation. He faces the Cincinnati Reds on the road Saturday. His poor dominance and uninspiring resume mean you'd have to be desperate to consider him.
