Middle infieldersKelly Johnson, 2B, Arizona Diamondbacks
This power-steals threat came cheaply in many mixed drafts. Ignored? We think so. His hitter-friendly environment doesn't hurt his 15-homer potential from a middle infield spot. Act quickly. Shallow mixed: Watch Deep mixed: Acquire NL-only: Acquire Edgar Renteria, SS, San Francisco Giants Renteria, 34, had two bone chips removed from his right elbow last year; he played through elbow and shoulder issues often. His hot start hints health will improve his play. This vet should buoy his average with his history of upper-echelon line-drive percentages, even if his power isn't certain anymore. He should still approach double digits there and in steals, and if he stays in the Giants' two-hole, his run total should be respectable enough to place in a middle infield spot. There's a hint of upside left, and he can produce a profit that not many deep-league free-agent MIs can. Shallow mixed: Watch Deep mixed: Acquire NL-only: Acquire Jeff Keppinger, IF, Houston Astros Tommy Manzella (wrist) has rested the last few days but will probably return in the next few. Even when Manzella is reinserted, how long will that last? Keppinger is hitting like someone who deserves to stay in the lineup. Manzella is all glove, and the positionally diverse Kepp has numerous outlets for PT anyway, even if the 'Stros remain loyal. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass NL-only: Acquire PitchersSean Marshall, RP, Chicago Cubs Marshall has been a LIMA threat for some time, and he's realizing that potential early this season. His career splits heavily favor him as a reliever in overall performance, including a wide margin in K/9. In his long relief role, he's in line to offer frequent strikeouts and innings-eating ratio help.
