Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league. PitchersTrevor Hoffman, RP, Milwaukee Brewers
Hoffman is somehow widely available. The Brewers are making him pitch at least one more successful setup game before returning to the closer role. Well, it's hard to think they won't return him there unless he collapses further. Check your waiver wire now. You might have to wait for him to get save chances, but why let an established stopper sit on your wire when the Brewers already have experienced a mess without him? Shallow mixed: Acquire Deep mixed: Acquire NL-only: Acquire Brett Myers, SP, Houston Astros Myers' ownership figures display skepticism - rightfully so, especially with his slightly inflated strand rate, his favorable schedule so far and Houston's absentee run support. He puts many runners on. Don't overlook the positives. Despite his continued drop in dominance, his command rate has remained steady from last year. Myers, 30 in August, has been a launching pad for most of his career. While his 10.9 percent HR/FB is well below his career norms, he has posted solid groundball rates (51.1 percent this year, a career best) and used more sliders; a season-long breakthrough isn't out of the question. His opponents' .323 BABIP doesn't favor him, either, so any improvement there could sustain this growth. He's best left as a matchup play. Avoid his scheduled Thursday start at the Milwaukee Brewers. In deeper leagues, you could try him after that when he hosts the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs; both are middling teams on the road and against righties. After that, skip Yankee Stadium but go for his start at the Kansas City Royals' Kauffman Stadium.
