Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - AL

Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly.

Corner infielders

Ike Davis, 1B, New York Mets

Davis, one of the Mets' top prospects, was called up from Triple-A Buffalo and, starting Monday, will be their full-time first baseman, at least until Daniel Murphy (knee) returns. Even then, it's probably Davis' job to lose - he's considered their first baseman of the future.

He has power - 20 homers in 429 minors at-bats last year - but has just 33 at-bats, all this year, above Double-A, so expect some bumps. He has only 677 career at-bats in the minors. Davis excelled hitting Triple-A pitching this year with a .364-2-4 line following a top-notch spring (.480-3-10 with seven runs in 12 games). Stash him if you can on deep mixed rosters.

Shallow mixed: Pass

Deep mixed: Watch

NL-only: Acquire

Outfielders

Eugenio Velez, OF, San Francisco Giants

Velez has started two games in center with Aaron Rowand (face) on the 15-day DL. He should continue to play regularly until Rowand is ready to come back, which could be the first weekend in Florida in just two weeks. Velez has started off swinging a hot stick (.350-2-7 in only 20 at-bats), but his speed is what will help the most. He has 30 career steals in just 591 at-bats and has done well in the category in part-time work the last few seasons.

Shallow mixed: Pass

Deep mixed: Watch

NL-only: Acquire
