Middle infielders

Danny Espinosa, 2B/SS, Washington Nationals

When an intriguing middle-infield prospect with 25-25 potential - a player we pointed out on Friday - gets off to this kind of start in the bigs (9-for-16, three homers, 10 RBIs), you have to react quickly. Few people are reacting at all. It's late in the year, and Espinosa won't hit this for another four weeks, but it's worth a spot somewhere to find out how much more damage he'll do.

Pitchers

Clay Hensley, RP, Florida Marlins

Manager Edwin Rodriguez has named Hensley his temporary closer. How soon will Leo Nunez get the job back? Well, that depends on Nunez.

Hensley has recorded a 2.54 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP and a 9.47 K/9 in his 63 2/3 frames this season. He generates grounders on more than half of the batted balls against him, continuing a positive trend. Hensley has been effective for most of the season and, at the very least, shouldn't hurt you, whatever his role, unless he's mentally unprepared to save games for a non-playoff team.

Vicente Padilla, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers activated Padilla (neck) from the DL in time for him to start last night against the San Diego Padres. He didn't fare too well (three earned runs in four frames). But he struck out five, walked only one and threw only 56 pitches before taking a seat for a pinch hitter.

Padilla also did not fare well in his couple of starts prior to his DL placement. However, he has had a good season (6-5, 4.07 ERA, 1.08 WHIP) thanks to some spot-on control. He has also been a lot sharper at Dodger Stadium (1.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP in six starts) than on the road. Keep that in mind down the stretch.
