Fantasy baseball waivers and discarded fantasy baseball players can make or break a season. You may have adjusted your fantasy baseball cheat sheets over and over during spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, though, you will probably have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

When is it time to give up on your fantasy baseball sleepers? Which players are worth retaining? KFFL.com's Diamond Market series gives you the fantasy baseball tips and advice you need to sort through the masses quickly.

Key

Discard - Drop player (in most circumstances)

Stash - Hold player if roster space is available; consider dropping if trend continues

Hold - Do not drop player (in most circumstances)

Second basemen

Marco Scutaro, Toronto Blue Jays

The 33-year-old was a pleasant surprise as an everyday player in 2009, but a heel injury seems likely to end his season prematurely. The Jays will await the results of an MRI scheduled for Monday, but the expectation is that he'll be shut down. They have nothing to play for anyway.

Shallow mixed: Discard

Deep mixed: Discard

AL-only: Stash

Shortstops

Michael Young, Texas Rangers

Texas Rangers 3B Michael Young
More watching, less playing for Young

It appears that Young's swift progress ended up being a detriment; he might've rushed back and thus has aggravated his hamstring injury. It's enough to put him back at the beginning of his rehab, per some estimates. His return this weekend seems overly optimistic, and there are only two weeks left.

AL-only: Stash

Outfielders

Milton Bradley, Chicago Cubs

The Cubbies suspended the ideal teammate and franchise spokesperson for the rest of the season. They'd really love to keep him around, but they'll listen to offers for Bradley this offseason.

Shallow mixed: Discard

Deep mixed: Discard

NL-only: Discard

Nolan Reimold, Baltimore Orioles

The tendonitis in his left Achilles' tendon is enough that the Orioles have placed him on the 15-day disabled list. He's scheduled for an operation Wednesday and is expected to be ready for Spring Training, full-retention keeper league managers should note.

Shallow mixed: Discard

Deep mixed: Discard

AL-only: Discard

Starting pitchers

Ross Ohlendorf, Pittsburgh Pirates

The Bucs have shut down Ohlendorf for the rest of the season. He posted a 2.83 ERA and struck out 49 in his final 11 starts (70 innings), although he has only four wins to show for it. The righty wasn't victorious in his final five outings. Nevertheless, he has gained the attention of fantasy dynasty players.

Deep mixed: Discard

NL-only: Discard
