Hank Blalock, 1B, Tampa Bay Rays

Blalock's agent, Scott Boras, told the media Blalock will exercise an out clause in his contract next week if he isn't promoted to the big leagues. Blalock could be an alternative to the struggling Pat Burrell. The Chicago White Sox are also reportedly interested.

He's streaky, but the lefty masher can easily offer 20 homers in 500 at-bats (25 in 462 last season), and his batting average had been acceptable before a .234 demise in '09. MLB squads would likely be interested if Blalock leaves; fantasy owners should keep tabs, too.

Matt Tuiasosopo, 3B, Seattle Mariners

Need pitching? Forge a Bonderman

The 24-year-old up from Triple-A Tacoma with the DL placement of shortstop Jack Wilson (hamstring). Josh Wilson is replacing Jack Wilson, but Tuiasosopo, 24, has moderate offensive upside and a better chance to stick in the lineup after the injured Wilson returns.

The M's are losing patience with DH Ken Griffey Jr. and are trying Jose Lopez there. Tui, who started at third Wednesday, has done little in the bigs this year but had an acceptable .261-11-35 in 260 at-bats for Tacoma last season.

Pitchers

Jeremy Bonderman, SP, Detroit Tigers

He might not regain his early-career velocity, but Bonderman is returning to form - especially in command - after two injury-marred seasons. An April 16 blowup has clouded several quality starts; in his last four outings, he has 19 K's and just four walks.

The 27-year-old is healthy and seems to be doing a better job controlling his complementary pitches. Bonderman can still improve, too: His BABIP (.323) and strand rate (53.4 percent) could easily return to league norms. There's enough talent here to see if he can sustain his success. He lines up to host the Chicago White Sox next week; that favors his location splits.

Brad Bergesen, SP, Baltimore Orioles

You won't find significant K performance here. Bergesen was a bit fortunate last year, but he's an effective groundball hurler who also boasts solid control.

Farm adjustments seem to be paying off. His next start comes at home against the Kansas City Royals; you can use that game as a starting point if you're desperate for a roster-capping arm.
