OutfieldersLou Montanez, OF, Baltimore Orioles
Montanez should see most of the starts in left field with Felix Pie (lat) out for three months. Manager Dave Trembley likes the defensive mobility that Montanez gives them over the other left field options. The O's will mix and match at-bats between left and DH between Montanez, Luke Scott and Nolan Reimold, who likely will see most of his time at DH. The 28-year-old Montanez is mildly intriguing for AL-only because of some power he has exhibited - 26 homers at Double-A in '08; his average (.284 career hitter in the minors) might buoy your fantasy team if it translates, too. His average batting eye makes it a possibility. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass AL-only: Acquire Josh Reddick, OF, Boston Red Sox Reddick will be seeing playing time for the Sox with Mike Cameron (abdominal) and Jacoby Ellsbury (ribs) on the DL. He's a decent power bat (13 Double-A homers in 256 at-bats last year) who has a promisingly high flyball tendency and can hit for average. He had a .390-2-9 line in 59 at-bats this spring. The Sox want Reddick to play every day. Though Ellsbury is expected back sometime next week, Reddick could also see at-bats at DH. Outfielder J.D. Drew's injury history solidifies Reddick's mono stash value even when Ellsbury returns. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch AL-only: Acquire PitchersSergio Santos, RP, Chicago White Sox Santos, a '02 first-round pick as a shortstop, has eight K's and only one walk in five innings. He hasn't allowed a run, and manager Ozzie Guillen has talked of using him as a setup option. Even more astounding, Santos has only been pitching for a year and has a fastball that hovers around the mid-90s. He struck out 30 in 28 2/3 innings over four levels in the minors last year; the righty also walked 20, though, so his live arm is a work in progress. Invest on a trial basis if you have the room in deep mixed leagues. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch AL-only: Acquire Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - NLMore Articles You Will Like
