Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - NL

Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly.

Middle infielders

Adam Rosales, IF, Oakland Athletics

Boston Red Sox OF Jeremy Hermida
Playing time lanes opening for Hermida?

Rosales has stepped in to replace second baseman Mark Ellis, who is battling a sore left hamstring. Ellis said Monday he'd only miss a couple of days but has yet to return; he could have been used as a pinch hitter last night, though he was sidelined by both hamstrings in the spring, too. Ellis being sidelined longer wouldn't be a huge surprise given the amount of time he has previously spent on the DL.

In Ellis' absence, Rosales has four hits in 12 at-bats; he is hitting .400 with one homer and four RBIs in 15 at-bats this season. The A's planned to give Rosales at-bats all over the infield anyway; the 26-year-old showed modest power and a little speed in the minor leagues. He was useful at times last season as an NL-only utility player. Rosales might be eligible at first base and third base in some formats, too, so that gives him some deep mono bench value.

Outfielders

Jeremy Hermida, OF, Boston Red Sox

Mike Cameron might have a kidney stone. Jacoby Ellsbury continues to have pain in his left rib area. Both could be headed for the DL. Playing time, get better acquainted with Hermida.

The 26-year-old has a .294 average with one homer and six ribbies in 17 at-bats this year; he boasts a solid line-drove stroke. He has some power potential (18 homers in 429 at-bats in '07) - injuries have helped keep him from realizing it regularly. He worked this offseason on his ribs to help avoid oblique injuries, which hindered him in 2009.

His power could augment any deep outfields that lack it. Hermida also could be considered for more PT if DH David Ortiz continues his slide.
