Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat - NL

In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up?'s Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Lidge having trouble from the stretch
Brad Lidge once again pushed the Philadelphia Phillies to the ledge Monday but hung on for the save. The righty entered the ninth with a three-run advantage but gave up a two-run homer with two down. After he loaded the bases, he induced a groundout to escape.
Lidge is having trouble pitching with runners on this year: He has a .308 opponents' clip in those situations compared to .189 with no one on. His career numbers aren't that skewed, though, and his strand rate is a fortunate 83.3 percent. The Phils are willing to let him work out his issues as the stopper unless he suffers an utter collapse.
  • Reports say the Florida Marlins are unlikely to trade closer Leo Nunez. The righty allowed a run on two hits yesterday but wrapped up a one-run Marlins victory. In 10 innings since July 2, Nunez has converted eight straight opps, walked just two and fanned 15.
