In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Key

Job security (JS) score 1 (unstable) to 5 (untouchable)
Health (H) score 1 (injury-prone) to 5 (durable)

Arizona Diamondbacks

Closer: Chad Qualls

Understudy: Aaron Heilman

Colorado Rockies RP Huston Street
Street: on the road to recovery

Reminder: Grab Heilman. A.J. Hinch hinted at a closer change, and he might make an announcement before today's D-backs game.

Aside: Saves probably won't come his way soon, but Sam Demel, acquired Tuesday in exchange for Conor Jackson, has closer-type dominance with a fastball that visits the mid-90s.

Demel had six closures with a 1.26 ERA and 28 K's in 28 2/3 frames at Triple-A Sacramento this year. Pay attention, dynasty leaguers and seekers of NL-only ratio help.

Job security score: 1

Health score: 4

Mound meetings

  • Huston Street (groin, shoulder) pitched a scoreless eighth frame Monday for Triple-A Colorado Springs. The Colorado Rockies righty is in line to pitch Wednesday and Saturday before a decision is made on his return date.
