In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Though Joel Hanrahan has handled most of the chances since the non-waiver trade deadline, the Pittsburgh Pirates expect to hand some save opportunities over to Evan Meek down the stretch, per manager John Russell. They still want to have the two compete for the closer's job next spring and want to see what Meek can offer now. If Meek remains on your waiver wire, scoop him up.
  • After Fernando Abad gave up a leadoff double in the ninth with a two-run lead Monday, Matt Lindstrom came in to record three straight outs for his first save in three chances since July 16. Brandon Lyon was unavailable, having worked on four consecutive days. Lindstrom still might see a save or two before the end of the year, but Lyon has earned dibs on closing situations.
  • Pittsburgh Pirates RP Evan Meek

Apparently, his busted thumb isn't ENTIRELY out of order. Francisco Rodriguez (New York Mets) is being charged with criminal contempt. Authorities said Rodriguez, who's accused of assaulting his girlfriend's father, violated an order of protection by sending 56 text messages to his girlfriend in attempts to apologize and reach a resolution.
Prosecutors tried to place Rodriguez in jail during his hearing Tuesday morning. Stay tuned for the next episode of "Law and Order: K-Rod," as Benson and Stabler try to find his velocity.
