In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Boston Red Sox RP Daniel Bard
Bard's tale in need of more drama
In his first appearance since a rough Thursday save, Brian Fuentes tallied a hitless, scoreless closure Monday for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He fanned two and threw only 12 pitches to back up manager Mike Scioscia's vote of confidence, at least temporarily.
Maybe the lefty's renewed fondness for his changeup is kicking in. Since May 19, Fuentes has three saves with a 3.60 ERA, eight K's and only two walks in five one-inning appearances. Fuentes owners should still be wary of Fernando Rodney, but Scioscia has stuck with Fuentes through worse times.
  • Daniel Bard, the Boston Red Sox's temporary closer with Jonathan Papelbon on bereavement leave, entered the ninth yesterday with a four-run lead. He gave up a leadoff solo homer and a single in finishing the win.
