Fantasy football sleepers: QB - Week 17

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn’t necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 13 to Week 16, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Quarterbacks

Kerry Collins, Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

    Tennessee Titans QB Kerry Collins
Need a QB? Try out Collins
  • Despite his ugly 14-for-37 debacle in Week 16, Collins has recorded seven touchdown throws in his last three games, also topping 230 aerial yards in each contest. He can throw when he has to: In Week 14 against Indy, he recorded three touchdowns and 244 passing yards.
  • That helped balloon the Colts' passing allowances over the last month to 234.0 yards and 1.75 touchdowns. This positive matchup makes Collins a waiver wire rental; he's available in 74 percent of polled leagues.

NEW - Kevin Kolb, Philadelphia Eagles vs. Dallas Cowboys

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Michael Vick (quadriceps) won't play in Week 17. Kolb has shown he can run the offense when called upon - he executed a productive stretch earlier in the year when Vick was hurt, averaging 252.8 yards and 1.50 passing touchdowns from Week 4 to Week 7.
  • The Cowboys can help just about any quarterback stuff the stat sheets. Against Dallas, QBs have averaged, per game, 285.0 yards and 2.25 touchdowns, along with a 62.0 completion percentage.
  • Kolb, who's available in 70 percent of polled setups, should be added immediately if your QB situation all of a sudden is messy for Week 17.
