Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: TE - Week 17

If you are serious about winning your fantasy league football championship, stay on top of your fantasy football team throughout the year.

Each week during the NFL fantasy football season, KFFL brings you its Fantasy Football Waiver Wire, which breaks down players to pick up. Be aggressive when picking up fantasy football free agents. Even if you do not need a player, you can tuck him away for depth or block others from adding him to their fantasy football team.

Fantasy football free agents: One-week plays

The following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use.

Jared Cook, Tennessee Titans (99 percent)

Bo Scaife is being pushed aside. Cook has justified that with eight catches, 138 yards and a touchdown over his last two games, including a career-best 5-96-1 on nine targets in Week 16. The Indianapolis Colts stand to give him similar benefits in Week 17; they've allowed 8.00 receptions, 62.0 yards and 1.25 touchdown grabs per game to tight ends since Week 12.

Greg Olsen, Chicago Bears (40 percent)

Greg Olsen, TE, Chicago Bears
Upside with a good matchup

After being minimally involved the previous three weeks, Olsen has seven targets in the last two weeks. It's a minimal improvement, though, and he recorded just give catches and 34 yards in that interim.

Why you should bold his name this week: He snared five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers, his Week 17 opponent and an easy target for tight ends of late. They've yielded 4.00 catches, 58.5 yards and 1.00 touchdowns per game to this position over the last four weeks.

He might see attentive coverage from the Pack - ahem, Charles Woodson - but for a flex spot, this matchup and his explosiveness (however fleeting it is) warrants a championship game gamble if you're running out of options.
