Nate McLouth, OF, Baltimore Orioles

He's reawakened as an O, batting .306 with two homers, six RBIs, 11 runs and two swipes in 62 September at-bats and filling a large void in left field. He's excelled in the leadoff spot, too. Written off as a formerly useful player, the vet performed significant work on his swing as a Baltimore minor leaguer this summer. The lefty stick wouldn't go into specifics about what changed and his swing doesn't look all that different than how it did last year, but it looks slightly smoother than it was in the past.

When all's right, McLouth boasts a power-speed combo that, when he's not streaking, can at least offer a nice pairing of homers and swipes. He makes plenty of contact, and this year he's producing by far his highest liner rate (22.7) since 2006 (25.4). There's blatant justification for his ongoing run, which you should feel comfortable riding the rest of the way.

Jorge De La Rosa, SP, Colorado Rockies

The left-hander is slated to return to major league action Thursday, 16 months after undergoing Tommy John surgery underwent last season. On Saturday, he reached 94 mph on his four-seamer in a start for Single-A Modesto.

De La Rosa walks a few too many when healthy, which doesn't breed confidence for his control following a long layoff from big-league competition. But at this point in the year, many owners are looking for as much help as possible, and he's had enough time, even with setbacks, to get some arm strength back to help with a few handy K outings.

Unfortunately, for what could be three outings to close out the year, he'll be on pitch and inning counts, likely 75 and five, respectively, depending on each game. He's a potential deep-mixed value target for 2013 drafts more so than he is a 2012 savior, but he's worth a shot in the right setting.
