We'll help you decide whether they're trade bait or worth your FAAB dollars in your fantasy baseball games.
Jennings has delivered what most expected: across-the-board counting-stat contributions with an emphasis on swipes, along with struggles with batting average. Even with his underwhelming clip, he has become more aggressive and increased his contact frequency in his third season with major-league action, a positive sign that he's arriving.
He last appeared in a game as a pinch hitter Friday, so he'd be out at least until May 27.
Vogt, who's 0-for-13 on the year, is underwhelming AL-only depth; he'll see a handful of at-bats per week, likely at DH. He qualifies at catcher in some formats, though, so that gives him a speck of potential for single-universe leagues that require you to start a pair.
Hideki Matsui arrives at Triple-A Durham on Tuesday and probably is about a week away from being ready for the bigs. The vet could sneak in a week of consistent at-bats, at minimum, before Jennings gets back. He shouldn't be on mono-league waiver wires and might earn deep-mixed consideration in the near future.
The Rays will likely just increase Brandon Guyer's responsibilities, giving him a short-term AL-only boost and making him a dice roll for desperate players with deep outfield requirements in cavernous mixed leagues. He could replace a small but acceptable fraction of Jennings' all-around numbers if the starter misses extended time.
