A Cardinals source told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the club has its doubts about whether Matt Holliday (inflammation in middle finger of right hand) will play before the end of the regular season. The poor fella has dealt with an assortment of ailments this year. Craig, an oft-endorsed player - nee, a KFFL fav - has been filling in regularly. If you'll recall, it's his glove work that has never been sound; the 27-year-old is a commendable batsman. He of the career .307/.369/.516 slash line in the minors, plus power and above-average BA skills has batted .307 with a .354 OBP, 13 doubles, eight home runs and 32 RBIs in 193 plate appearances with St. Louis this season. In the past six days, he started five games and went 4-for-19 with a pair of getty-goners and four driven in. He should continue to pick up the pieces in left field.
