Charlie mad about Madson |
On Friday, Mike MacDougal picked up the Los Angeles Dodgers' first save since Vicente Padilla (forearm) hit the DL. MacDougal retired the only batter he faced after Matt Guerrier, savior of Tuesday's game, started the frame with a three-run lead but allowed two singles and was charged with an earned run.
Guerrier and Kenley Jansen remain the better fantasy targets in this mess, but MacDougal, while unlikely to run away with the gig, has experience in the role and remains a last-ditch addition if you missed out on the others.
- Ryan Madson recorded saves Friday and Saturday. Madson's already stalwart skills are now displayed in an elite stopper performance. Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said the righty will likely remain closer once Jose Contreras (elbow) and Brad Lidge (shoulder) return.
Though this isn't a guarantee to last, Madson is convincing Manuel that it's the best arrangement. Contreras and Lidge are still worth stashing in deep leagues if you're clinging to any saves hope possible, but Madson is earning himself plenty of rope.
