The Los Angeles Dodgers might get Kenley Jansen back this season after his irregular heartbeat resurfaced. He'll be prescribed blood thinners until Sept. 14, and he'll be in line to rejoin the bullpen a few days afterward. Owners of Brandon League and Ronald Belisario might not have much time to extract closures from them, but they shouldn't be discarded until Jansen proves he can perform without interruption. Is Jansen still available in your league?

Jansen, meanwhile, relayed to the media that doctors said he'll undergo a cardiac ablation in the offseason. (Note: This author had the same work done 13-plus years ago and can occasionally crush it at the batting cages.) The procedure stands to eliminate Jansen's issues (or reduce the recurrence odds to microscopically slim levels), meaning his playing days can continue following a recovery that'll probably take a few weeks.

Entering the bottom of the ninth inning last night, the Milwaukee Brewers held a four-run advantage. Jose Veras recorded two outs but also allowed a pair of runners to reach. John Axford came into the created save spot and got the job done in a seven-pitch at-bat, resulting in a pop-out.

Axford has recorded six of Milwaukee's last seven closures; Kameron Loe did the job Aug. 24. Ax remains the Crew's first choice, though he might not see all of them the rest of the way.
