Mound meetings

• Earlier this month, he had couple of rough appearances, one of which resulted in a blown save chance (as well as a victory for the righty) but neither of which amounted to job insecurity. Now, Craig Kimbrel has settled back into a routine - one that involves blowing away the comp, like the 23-year-old did on Monday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.
  Tim Hudson pitched brilliantly for eight innings but gave up hits to the first two batters he faced in the ninth. At that point, the Atlanta Braves turned it over to Kimbrel, who struck out Corey Patterson, Jose Bautista and Adam Lind to prevent scratching Hudson's gem.
  The save was Kimbrel's second in two days and came in his third contest in three days. In his past four outings (four innings), the Bravos' closer has needed an average of only 13.5 pitches to complete a stanza - and that's while striking out nine of the 12 hitters he's retired.
• Jonathan Broxton (bone bruise in right elbow) was originally listed to begin his rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday, but the right-hander wouldn't have arrived in time for the Isotopes' afternoon start. The Los Angeles Dodgers moved his schedule to Tuesday and Thursday.
  He'll still be re-evaluated after the latter outing, and the Blue could still decide to activate him afterward. Although they leave open that possibility, however, it still seems likelier that they won't rush him back.
