Pros: LJ earned his rep as one of the most fearsome rushers in football. In his career, he has averaged 4.5 yards per attempt and been a formidable receiver, with 30 catches or more in three of the last four seasons. In 2005 and 2006, he put up more than 3,500 rushing yards and hit paydirt 40 total times. That's the kind of potential the 29-year-old can bring to the table. Head coach Todd Haley brings a more diverse offense than those under Herman Edwards' direction. The Chiefs' new honcho says he's pleased with what he has seen from Johnson this offseason.

Cons: Johnson hasn't since looked like the runaway freight train that wore the No. 27 Chiefs uni in 2005 and 2006. A severe foot injury derailed his 2007 campaign, which wasn't going too swell (3.5 yards per attempt, three scores in eight games) anyway. The bounce-back 2008 season began with promise. Unfortunately, LJ had trouble controlling his temper, both inside and outside the context of the team. Last year he missed two games because of suspensions (one team, one league); Johnson sat out two others because Edwards deactivated him. After the dust settled, the Chiefs didn't give him the lion's share of work. He turns 30 this season and may not have the burst or passion anymore. KC's offensive line is at best adequate, and the D is probably going to be terrible - again.

Fantasy tip: Johnson has a bit of a new lease and seems to be adopting a new personal-conduct policy. That's wise if he's to avoid violating the NFL's again. He's not a safe option thanks to his attitude problems and declining ability, but he's still capable of posting No. 2 fantasy back numbers every week, plus the occasional big game. More intriguing backs may be available in the fourth and fifth rounds, but none are as established. Mild upside here, with downside fueled more by non-football-related matters. How much do you trust him?
