KFFL.com's managing editors bring you their top five super sleeper choices for the upcoming season. Check out which players you want to target in the waning rounds of your 2009 fantasy football draft.
Not just Jamal Lewis insurance; rook a fresher version of Lewis' bruising game. If old age catches up with the vet, Davis becomes a No. 3 fantasy back, at minimum
Has size and talent - slated to be STL's No. 2 receiver; could be No. 1 with Donnie Avery (foot) hurt; Marc Bulger still a competent QB when healthy, too
Donovan McNabb fell in love w/BC during the playoffs; Celek can be a healthier, more polished LJ Smith; if you want to wait on a TE in PPR, you can grab him late
The Niners will run. A lot. Frank Gore will need a changeup back, and "Java" will be there to help out. If Gore wears down, Coffee could be late-season gold
He'll see competition for the No. 3 spot, but he has the most experience of the options there; Colts' No. 3 WR has been vital; IND may have Anthony Gonzalez in slot, too
Ryan Grant has really only had one half-season of success; was 2007 2nd-round pick; showed flashes last year (5.5 YPC) and has added value in PPR leagues
Receiving work in Brian Westbrook's (ankle) place in camp; competition is 2nd-round pick LeSean McCoy; Booker decent catching the ball; not sold on Westy's health
Collins wasn't exceptional, just safe, last year; VY appears to be over mental issues; still a talented QB, even if he can't make a pass; Collins turns 37 in December
Someone needs to catch passes other than Donnie Avery in STL; Marc Bulger can still deliver the ball when protected and healthy; Robinson expected to start
Could be the third receiver in Pittsburgh; disappointing first year but was more of a project receiver coming off university; has the size to be a big red zone threat
A touchdown machine just a few years ago, Bell is a coaching staff favorite. Plays behind injury-prone Reggie Bush; who knows how durable Pierre Thomas will be
Impressed over final six weeks and proved to be a favorite JaMarcus Russell. Someone has to catch balls in Oakland, and I think the offense will be markedly improved in '09
Ray Rice is smallish; Willis McGahee is always hurt; Le'Ron McClain is back at FB; Peerman has a long, long way to go but he can make things happen if given the chance
Confident second-year man caught 19 passes in three playoff games, then spent the offseason bulking up - both his body and his brain. A No. 1 fantasy option, no doubt
The most talented wideout in N'Awlins is healthy and dedicated - intriguing as part of this juggernaut. He'll easily surpass Devery Henderson; Marques Colston and Lance Moore aren't extremely durable
Head coach Raheem Morris says the Caddy looks like he did before the knee injuries. The luxury sedan will be part of a committee, at the very least - until he revs his engine
Ahmad Bradshaw may complement Brandon Jacobs, but he'll never be featured. Ware has the size, strength and skills to replace the big lead load if (when?) he goes down
Size, speed and athleticism. Great hands on display at a school that often threw to him like he was a wideout. Kellen Winslow? Nope, the Browns' NEW tight end
Terry, going to have to pick Slaton of those two options. He's basically a one-man show in the Houston backfield right now compared to Barber, who could be part of a three-headed mess.
10 team Ppr league 1qb 2rb 3wr 1te 1k 1def. I can only protect 2 players : forte, turner, chris johnson, gore, fitzgerald, marshall. I. Am leanig toward forte, fitz. What do you think?
I'd keep Forte & Turner unless you're in a PPR league, and draft a WR with my top pick. You can get two high-quality receivers on the first swing of your draft
