Team Player
Pos
School Notes/others considered
1
Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford
QB
Georgia Stafford's workout justifies this pick; Jason Smith still a strong possibility, though
2
St. Louis Rams Jason Smith
OT
Baylor Compete with Alex Barron back to RT; trade down - this pick will be coveted
3
Kansas City Chiefs Aaron Curry
OLB
Wake Forest Safest pick in the draft
4
Seattle Seahawks Mark Sanchez
QB
USC Will draft him if no one jumps into the No. 2 spot that STL is trying to trade out of
5
Cleveland Browns Michael Crabtree

Cincinnati Bengals Eugene Monroe
OT
Virginia Trade down, Everette Brown; B.J. Raji
7
Oakland Raiders Jeremy Maclin
WR
Missouri OT a strong possibility
8
Jacksonville Jaguars B.J. Raji

Boston College CB and WR both possibilities; can't see them drafting a QB - a win-now team
9
Green Bay Packers Brian Orakpo
DE/OLB
Texas Trade down, OT help
10
San Francisco 49ers Michael Oher
OT
Mississippi Andre Smith - could Singletary whip Smith into shape?
11
Buffalo Bills Andre Smith
OT
Alabama A great value on one of the best players on the field; replaces Jason Peters
12

New Orleans Saints Malcolm Jenkins
CB/S
Ohio State Chris Wells could be the pick if available

Illinois Need another speedy corner; Aaron Maybin an option
16
San Diego Chargers Tyson Jackson
DE
LSU Replaces Igor Olshansky as a true 3-4 DE; Rey Maualuga
17
New York Jets Darrius Heyward-Bey
WR
Maryland Gives them a dangerous playmaker and deep threat; could trade up for a QB or take Josh Freeman
18
Denver Broncos (from Chicago Bears) Aaron Maybin
DE/LB
Penn State CB, DE possibilities; have no WRs to speak of; Darrius Heyward-Bey an option if available
19

Ohio State Need an ILB to pair with Jerod Mayo; can rotate with and eventually replace Tedy Bruschi
24
Atlanta Falcons Brandon Pettigrew
TE
Oklahoma State A do-all tight end and fills a big need
25
Miami Dolphins Larry English
DE/OLB
Northern Illinois Fits Bill Parcells' mold and the defensive system well
26
Baltimore Ravens Hakeem Nicks
WR
North Carolina Gives the Ravens a legit chain-moving WR with upside
27
Indianapolis Colts Evander Hood
DT
Missouri After missing out on Peria Jerry, Hood is the next best option

Mike, at 06:10 on 04/21/09, says:

If the Braylon trade goes through, and neither Smith nor Hixon is involved, do the G-Men still go WR here (ideally I agree w/ Britt), or would they look at the top OL prospect to begin rebuilding the O-Line for the future...?

Jack Douglas, at 11:13 on 04/21/09, says:

If I ran the Giants, I would try to trade with Seattle and draft Crabtree. He is one receiver who might learn fast and become a huge star. Eli Manning needs an elite target. Who wants another debacle like the end of the 2008 season. If they cannot or will not do that, then I say it makes sense to take Nicks or Britt at #29. I am very hesitant to trade for Braylon Edwards, due to his perceived attitude and his drops. I also suspect the Browns want too much for Edwards. The Giants also need OL depth, another LB, a safety and need to start working on rebuilding special teams. The kicking game needs an upgrade and their punter, great though he is, cannot last much longer.
