The NFL said Ocho Cinco "has a financial obligation to Reebok, which produces the jerseys available to fans. That has to be resolved before the on-field jersey can be changed." The cost to change the jersey could be $500,000.
-- Offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski said he will not abandon the run despite their struggles. "We're not going to give up on the run," Bratkowski said. BROWNS NEWS AND NOTES
-- The Cleveland Browns have lost nine games in a row to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who they face during Week 2.
-- WR Braylon Edwards dropped several catchable passes during Week 1 - including one that would have been a touchdown. He and QB Derek Anderson struggled to regain their chemistry after both missed time during training camp and preseason with injury problems. Edwards expects the team to rebound offensively in Week 2, noting he and Anderson have spent extra time together this week rebuilding their timing to shake off the rust.
-- General manager Phil Savage told a local radio station in an interview Thursday, Sept. 11, that the team is not likely to sign veteran free agents for help due to injuries. Savage said the team's focus is on getting the players he has on his team better. "Quite honestly, we're pretty much tapped out on our budget for this year," Savage told radio station WTAM. "There's really not a lot of extra room to go grab another player, and at this point, there's not a lot to pick from that's on the street right now that's going to come in and help you beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. That's just not going to happen."
-- General manager Phil Savage said the team's Week 2 game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers is as close to a must win as a team can have this early in the season. "Nothing would calm the waters better than beating the Steelers," Savage said in an interview with radio station WTAM. "It's the biggest game of the year, and quite frankly it's probably the biggest that we've played since I've been here on Sunday night. So we have to put everything we have into it."
-- PK Phil Dawson is seeking a new contract with the team, according to multiple sources. Dawson's representation recently met with the team's front office and general manager Phil Savage about restructuring his contract. Dawson signed a five-year, $7.1 million contract extension in 2005 that runs through 2010. He will earn $950,000 this season and $1 million in each of the final two years.

-- Barber III (rib) practiced again Friday, Sept. 12, without any protective gear on his injured ribs. He is fine for Week 2, expected to start and should not be limited during the game due to the injury. He could have returned to their Week 1 game had the Cowboys needed him to.
-- Hurd (ankle) will not set a firm return date until he can start cutting on his ankle, but he could be back to face the Green Bay Packers Sunday, Sept. 21.
-- Austin (knee) may serve as the team's No. 3 receiver in Week 2. He is getting closer in his return from a knee injury and practiced Friday, Sept. 12. He may wear a brace on his knee in Week 2 to protect it against hits, but he does not need a brace for running on it.

COWBOYS NEWS AND NOTES
-- The Dallas Cowboys have signed free-agent QB Brooks Bollinger (Vikings) to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.
-- The Dallas Cowboys have waived WR Mike Jefferson.
-- Head coach Wade Phillips plans to utilize running backs Felix Jones and Marion Barber III (ribs) on the field more often than he did in the season opener. Jones ran for 62 yards and a touchdown, but all nine of his carries came after Barber left the game.
-- QB Tony Romo is 0-2 as a starter in his career against the Philadelphia Eagles at home. He has only thrown one touchdown in those two games while throwing five interceptions and getting sacked seven times.
-- CB Adam Jones will start at left cornerback this week if CB Terence Newman (groin) is unable to go.
-- OL Cory Procter will start at left guard Week 2, replacing injured OG Kyle Kosier (foot).
