1LaDainian Tomlinson, Running Back, San Diego Chargers

Team: Paul Greco, MelnickandGrecoFantasySports.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: When it comes to having the No. 1 pick in your fantasy football drafts, to me, there is only one player fantasy owners need to know: LaDainian Tomlinson.

Others Considered: Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson

Standards Set: Since we're playing by WCOFF rules, the point-per-reception (PPR) format is part of the scoring system. Last season, Tomlinson averaged 3.75 receptions per game while finishing the season with 475 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Did I mention he also rushed for 15 touchdowns and 1474 yards?

2) Adrian Peterson, Running Back, Minnesota Vikings

Team: Ryan Lester, LestersLegends.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: I do not consider this the No. 2 pick. Instead I choose to call it the "1-B" pick. Peterson exploded on the scene last year with 1,341 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. He also set the single-game rushing record. The Vikings have a good offensive line (including the league's best guard in Steve Hutchinson) and a defense that should allow them to dominate in time of possession. The passing game should be better this year with the maturation of quarterback Tarvaris Jackson and the addition of wideout Bernard Berrian, which should keep defenses honest. This was truly a no-brainer selection.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: I'm hoping for a monster season out of "All Day." I would love 1800-plus total yards, 12-plus touchdowns and perhaps a rushing title.

3) Steven Jackson, Running Back, St. Louis Rams

Team: William Del Pilar, KFFL.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: This turned out to be a tough pick - the earliest I've picked in a draft this year. We took Jackson because he's a big bruising back who has hands.

Others Considered: Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook

Standards Set: We like the division he plays in, and the Rams should be much improved this year for fantasy purposes. We expect 1,400 rushing yards, 58 receptions, 482 receiving yards and 12 total touchdowns.

4) Brian Westbrook, Running Back, Philadelphia Eagles

Team: Matt Knopf, FantasyPlayers.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Let's see. Led the NFL in yards from scrimmage last year? Check. More than 2,000 total yards the past two years? Check. Taking a running back with 90 receptions last year in a points-per-reception scoring league? Check. It's a no-brainer here.

Others Considered: Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai

Standards Set: I expect more than 2,000 total yards and about 80 receptions.

5) Joseph Addai, Running Back, Indianapolis Colts

Team: David Dorey, TheHuddle.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Taking Joseph Addai was a no-brainer to me. Already a big part of the Indianapolis scoring machine, Addai is a dual threat in both rushing and receiving. He had 41 catches for 364 yards last year and scored three times via the pass in addition to scoring a dozen more times as a rusher. First-round picks are not only about getting the most productive player you can, but also about limiting the risk, and Addai at No. 5 is my best choice.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: I'm expecting 1,400 total yards and 12 touchdowns.

6) Randy Moss, Wide Receiver, New England Patriots

Team: Scott Engel, RotoExperts.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: In a league where points are awarded for receptions, I couldn't think of a better choice here. The very best running backs were off the board, so I took an elite player at another position - a guy whom everyone will want on their team again this year.

Others Considered: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady

Standards Set: His numbers won't change much from last season. The Brady-to-Moss combination will still be by far the best quarterback-wideout hookup in the league. Moss should post numbers very similar to his 2007 totals.

7) Frank Gore, Running Back, San Francisco 49ers

Team: Jeff Paur, RTSports.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: This seventh spot isn't a whole lot of fun. I had some options to go with here but decided on Gore because of his reception potential in the 49ers' new Mike Martz offense. I like his upside in a PPR league. Plus, Gore had a down season last year and still finished 10th in running back scoring in this format. He can improve on that with Martz calling plays.

Others Considered: Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch

Standards Set: For this pick to work, I'm hoping Gore can score double-digit touchdowns. I'm also looking for him to get around 1,800 or 1,900 total yards with 60-plus receptions. He has the talent and should be the centerpiece of the 49ers offense, making these benchmarks doable.

8) Clinton Portis, Running Back, Washington Redskins

Team: Derrick Eckardt, RotoNation.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: With all the elite running backs gone, I took the guy who is a proven producer in a solid offense. In addition, Portis might have a chance for a few more receptions this year with the 'Skins being a little more pass-orientated. Lastly, a guy who answers the press' questions as "Coach Spanky Janky" will always have a spot on my team.

Others Considered: Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch and Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant

Standards Set: Need someone with a track record of producing as a top player. It's too early to take guys that "will be good, if they are healthy, or if they get the ball more." I need a known commodity here. I expect 320 carries from Portis.

9) Willis McGahee, Running Back, Baltimore Ravens

Team: George del Prado, FantasyAuctioneer.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Two words: Cam Cameron. I'm hoping the new Ravens offensive coordinator will finally get McGahee 10-plus touchdowns, something he hasn't had since 2004. I was really hoping Randy Moss or Portis would fall to me, though.

Others Considered: Dallas Cowboys running back Marion Barber III and Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant

Standards Set: If he has marginal improvement from last year's numbers - around 1550 yards from scrimmage, 10 touchdowns and 50 catches - I'd be pretty happy with this pick.

10) Marion Barber III, Running Back, Dallas Cowboys

Team: Tony Holm, FantasySharks.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Barber, in my eyes, was the last remaining back in the upper tier and seemed like good value with the 10th pick. The Cowboys are paying Barber LaDainian Tomlinson-type money after a contract extension this offseason, making Barber one of the elite (in pay, at least) backs in the NFL. I don't think the Cowboys will have that much cash resting on the bench, and it indicates how committed they are to him.

Others Considered: Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne

Standards Set: As he is my top running back, I'd like to see double-digit touchdowns and about 1,500 yards combined rushing and receiving.

11) Reggie Wayne, Wide Receiver, Indianapolis Colts

Team: Jeff Christiansen, FFToolbox.com | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Since this is a points-per-reception league, wide receivers tend to be more valuable than in other leagues. The best available player according to our customized cheat sheets for the K-FAD scoring system is Wayne, who is ranked No. 6 overall.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: We're expecting about 105 receptions, 1,500 yards and 13 touchdowns for Wayne.

12) Tom Brady, Quarterback, New England Patriots

Team: Geoff Stein, Mock Draft Central | Team Roster | Discuss

Reason: Gah! Watching my two desired first-round selections go before me wasn't a lot of fun. Looking at the remaining list of available players, only one stuck out as being worthy of the No. 12 selection: Brady. I'm a big believer in going running backs early, but I'm also big on minimizing risk with early selections. The best available running back options just had too many questions for my liking.

Others Considered: None

Standards Set: While I'd like another 50-touchdown season, I'll be more than happy with Brady being fantasy football's top quarterback with 35 or so touchdowns.
