CDS is the only truly independent NFL scouting organization with over a dozen scouts. We scout all levels of college football including the NAIA. Each writer covers a couple of conferences and is required to thoroughly scout their conferences and file reports. As a result of our independence, we are able to give assessments that are truly unique. They may vary significantly from NFL-sponsored sources, such as those produced by National Football Scouting, that selects which athletes get to attend the combine, or the larger media groups such as ESPN and The NFL Network. The latter opinions are heavily influenced by the NFL. In short, we are different.

Our consensus "Final Report" ranks over 700 players each year by compiling all the final 1-10 grades of the nation's most trusted draft resources such as Pro Football Weekly, The Sporting News, Mel Kiper and others with our own internal grades. We specialize in finding small school talent, which is why CFL, AFL and AF-2 executives read our reports regularly because these are the players they can get after the dust settles. Seventeen NFL clubs' personnel directors or other scouting professionals also use our free services. We also do a lot of work for the casual fan.
