The Giants have booted Santiago Casilla from the saves picture. These two, plus situational southpaw Javier Lopez, will form the new committee. Since they have been cautious about how and when they use Romo, he might be on an every-other-day schedule, and Affeldt is built to go two frames if needed.
This could resemble the Minnesota Twins' pairing of Glen Perkins and Jared Burton, considering their respective teams' careful management of a brittle righty arm and the lefty's capability to pitch more than one frame at a time comfortably. That mirror image means both of these relievers are worth owning. Romo owns the more closer-like skills, but Affeldt's grounder inducement makes him just as alluring. He's already more aptly built for consistent contributions.

Morales will start on Saturday as Bobby Valentine continues to run with a six-man rotation. Aaron Cook has teased some good efforts but on the whole is unreliable, so Morales is primed to take his spot if he keeps up his sparkling performance this year. If he sticks, he has the skills to aid your K count for the rest of the season.

Already a useful platoon player in his career, Murphy was named Texas' new everyday left fielder. Ron Washington might just be riding the hot streak along with Murphy, who's 21-for-60 with nine RBIs, eight runs and a stolen base over his last 16 contests.
For what it's worth, Murphy has turned around his performance versus southpaws from .215-0-5 in 107 at-bats last year to .381-0-3 in 42 at-bats in 2012. He's hit an acceptable .264 against them in his career. Hold on: Even Murphy admitted a few weeks ago that this year's sample size is a bit small to come to significant conclusions yet.
Still, Craig Gentry has cooled of late and is best used as a pinch runner anyway, and with Murphy taking advantage of pitchers of either handedness, there's no reason to remove him. It's fair to wonder if he's simply trying harder to focus on contact versus left-handers.
Of course, Murphy hasn't hit a homer since he clubbed two on June 27, and he only has five on the year, so he's relying a lot on his hot streak to be useful. Still, players on streaks that also play for Texas can carry plenty of positive residuals, and in that same environment, spurts of pop can show up at any time.
