Chris Iannetta, Colorado Rockies

Colorado Rockies C Chris Iannetta
Iannetta's stock less Rocky

The Rockies don't care what the Toronto Blue Jays did with Miguel Olivo. Colorado is, however, rumored to be interested in acquiring one of a couple of other, more high-profile fantasy-worthy catchers.

Barring a move, the Rockies are to some degree committed to Iannetta, whom they handed a three-year deal with a club option last offseason. The organization must be disappointed with their return thus far, but he still has power promise and a strong work ethic. Consider Iannetta's situation in flux, but an investment looks like a relatively safe move early on.

Jay Gibbons, Los Angeles Dodgers (re-signed)

Gibbons re-signed shortly after Scott Podsednik declined his side of a mutual player option with LA. Thus, the former has, for now, a legit shot at winning significant playing time in left. Gibbons performed well in limited duty and has plenty of incentive to get his career back on track. He could be a tremendously deep sleeper.

Angel Guzman, Chicago Cubs (re-signed)

Guzman was the likely setup man for Carlos Marmol before the discovery of a potentially career-ending torn shoulder ligament that required surgery. It was less serious than the club feared, though. Guzman threw in mid-October and might be ready for ST. Just something to monitor. Andrew Cashner is the Cubbies' projected setup man for 2011.
