In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Chicago White Sox RP Bobby Jenks
    Nerve-ous? Jenks sidelined
Detroit Tigers closer Jose Valverde is suffering from tenderness around his pitching elbow and will miss a few days. He said he felt better after playing catch Thursday but was unavailable to pitch in game action. The team said the tenderness popped up recently and isn't a factor in Valverde's second-half struggles.
Ryan Perry, who has compiled a 2.70 second-half ERA, recorded the save Thursday by working around a walk. The 23-year-old even adjusted during the game; he found he was pulling off his pitches and made an effort to follow through to the catcher. He's the better option if you're chasing closures, but don't be surprised if they play the matchups and use Phil Coke, also.
  • Bobby Jenks has been diagnosed with ulnar neuritis in his right forearm. He'll be away from the Chicago White Sox for at least a few days. It's hard to be comfortable with Jenks having a nerve problem. This makes it more urgent for you to see if J.J. Putz and Matt Thornton are available. If the White Sox fall further out of the AL Central race, they might just shut Jenks down.
