Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat - AL

by Tim Heaney on September 1, 2010 @ 14:00:00 PDT

In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up?'s Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Baltimore Orioles RP Koji Uehara
    "Closer" Uehara isn't the closer
After throwing 1 2/3 scoreless innings Tuesday, Koji Uehara has converted all five of his save opps for the Baltimore Orioles this year. Whether or not Buck Showalter wants to say it, Uehara is Baltimore's top bird.
  • Bobby Jenks will be thankful for the club's Thursday off-day. The Chicago White Sox's closer was a busy man this week but headed into his day of rest on a positive note, working around a hit to record one out and record the save Tuesday.
Looks like the Sox will get Matt Thornton (elbow) back from the DL Friday, so that should spread the work around a bit more.
