Aaron Harang, SP, Cincinnati Reds
The Reds will activate Harang (back) so that he can start on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. He has been out for about two months with back problems. His return has, at least temporarily, banished Edinson Volquez to the bullpen.
Harang has posted a respectable 2.68 K/BB, but it's part of a continued trend involving a slip in his K/9 and rise in his BB/9. The righty is 6-2 in 17 starts this year, but he has a 5.02 ERA and 1.46 WHIP.
Harang's indicators may suggest room for improvement, but he has become a pretty hittable pitcher. Solid outings will be mixed with not-so-good ones, and back spasms may pop up again. The likeliest area to get a return on an investment is W's.
