Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league.

Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore?'s Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly.

Acquire Add player (in most circumstances)

Pass Do not add player (in most circumstances)

Middle infielders

Brendan Ryan, 2B/SS, St. Louis Cardinals

St. Louis Cardinals 2B/SS Brendan Ryan
Ryan more comfy at the dish

Ryan has started 17 of the club's last 19 contests. In his last 12, he's 19-for-46 (.413) with nine runs. He feels more confident in his swing because he says his movements are consistent in it, allowing him to see the ball better.

Ryan hits near the bottom (seventh or ninth) and isn't perceived as a key fantasy performer, but he can contribute when he's on a hot streak. He has grown some as a hitter (last year: .292 BA, 14 stolen bases).

Lorenzo Cain, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers brought up Cain at the beginning of the weekend when they placed Carlos Gomez (head) on the disabled list. It appears that Cain will have a chance at regular PT; he started two of three weekend contests.

Milwaukee traded Jim Edmonds to the Cincinnati Reds for Chris Dickerson, so where Dickerson fits with the Brew Crew could impact this situation. But Cain has solid on-base ability and likes to run. He swiped 26 at Triple-A Nashville before his promotion and has already thieved once in The Show.
