Fantasy baseball waivers and the acquisition of fantasy baseball free agents can make or break your season. Your fantasy baseball cheat sheets won't help you after spring training. If your team remains the same after opening day, you will have trouble competing in your rotisserie baseball league. Do you need to replace your fantasy baseball busts? Which fantasy baseball players can you ignore? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market gives you fantasy baseball tips and insight to sort through the masses quickly. Key
Corner infieldersChris Carter, 1B/OF, Oakland Athletics At Triple-A Sacramento: .262 batting average, 27 homers, 89 RBIs. Evaluators have agreed: He's having a down year. Carter has work to do in the plate discipline department, and he hasn't hit for average the way he did at lower levels. But he's an impact power hitter, and the A's have summoned him.
Carter was playing in the outfield recently, but Daric Barton (back) may need to sit some, creating opportunity in multiple spots. Carter will play, because otherwise, he wouldn't be up. Consider his potential in your league. Shallow mixed: Watch Deep mixed: Acquire AL-only: Acquire Middle infieldersCarlos Guillen, 2B/OF, Detroit Tigers The Tigers activated Guillen (calf) from the DL today. The switch hitter has posted a .280-5-30 line in 225 at-bats this season. The numbers aren't dazzling, but what he delivers is more attractive at the keystone. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Acquire AL-only: Acquire Josh Wilson, SS, Seattle Mariners The M's will likely have to place Jack Wilson (hand) on the disabled list. Josh Wilson has played sparingly recently, but he'll benefit, at least in the short term, while Jack is sidelined. Josh has batted .256 with four steals in 215 at-bats this year. From roughly mid-May to mid-June, he batted over .300 as a starter while filling in for the injured Jack to begin with. His history and ability suggest that's as good as it gets, though. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass AL-only: Acquire PitchersScott Kazmir, SP, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim The Halos activated the southpaw this past Saturday. He proceeded to pitch five three-hit innings, when he gave up one run (unearned); he walked one and fanned three. Kazmir has gone beyond frustrating fantasy baseball owners this season. He has barely struck out (63) more than he has walked (50) in 97 1/3 frames. The Angels were encouraged, comparing the outing to what they saw from him in his six-start stint with them last year. Kazmir may no longer have ace-like potential, but he has great ability. He faces issues of inconsistency few others have, however. Don't rush, especially in mixed leagues, but don't forget that he's a possible commodity.
