RB Ryan Mathews, San Diego ChargersRookie players add new blood to fantasy football drafts every year. However, rookies carry more risk than most other fantasy football picks because they do not have any pro experience.

KFFL.com's managing editors make their fantasy football predictions on their top five fantasy football rookie picks for 2010. Some choices may be obvious, and others may be more obscure choices, but each player figures to factor into fantasy football drafts this year.

2010 Top Fantasy Football Rookie Picks

The what for
Ryan Mathews
RB
SD
Darren Sproles will still be there, but Mathews has build to step right in and balance out this dangerous O.
Jahvid Best
RB
DET
Quick back w/ No. 2 PPR potential. Lions hope to run more. Best bet for majority work.
C.J. Spiller
RB
BUF
You can't teach speed, and Spiller has a chance to be the main guy in a fluctuating backfield. Marshawn Lynch? Please.
Montario Hardesty
RB
CLE
Jerome Harrison starting, but for how long? O-line shaky, but Hardesty's size makes him potential everydown horse.
Dez Bryant
WR
DAL
Might take a few weeks, but don't ignore Anquan Boldin-like appeal if he can jump back into the fold quickly.
Bryce McRae

The what for
Ryan Mathews
RB
SD
Tough to argue here. He's a solid all-around back that will get a ton of touches in an explosive offense.
Jahvid Best
RB
DET
Kevin Smith's knee injury will make this Best's show; outstanding hands and speed, he could be a PPR beast.
C.J. Spiller
RB
BUF
Impressive preseason and injuries to Marshawn Lynch (ankle) and Fred Jackson (wrist) should give him heavy workload.
Dexter McCluster
WR
KC
Shifty wideout should find plenty of work as an outlet for Matt Cassel; focus on him mainly in PPR setups.
Montario Hardesty
RB
CLE
He fits the profile of a No. 1 back better than Jerome Harrison. Can be had late with potential to produce as low-end No. 3.
Cory J. Bonini

The what for
Ryan Mathews
RB
SD
Best back in the draft; will see the ball a lot in a high-powered offense. No. 1 fantasy RB.
Jahvid Best
RB
DET
A big play waiting to happen; great hands, agility and speed. Should have little competition for touches.
Montario Hardesty
RB
CLE
Should emerge as No. 1 back in Cleveland's two-back system. Not a great threat in PPR but makes a sneaky fourth back.
Dexter McCluster
WR
KC
A lot of underneath passes will make him fantasy worthy. Could be a PPR monster
Toby Gerhart
RB
MIN Top backup to AD, Gerhart will spell him and see some third-down work. A must-handcuff for Peterson owners.
Nicholas Minnix
Player

The what for
Ryan Mathews
RB
SD
Has oomph LT no longer did. As featured back, even if he's not focus of this high-scoring O, he'll put up RB2 numbers.
Jahvid Best
RB
DET
Exciting playmaker in open field. Sure bet to see most touches. Will be highly inconsistent, is a health risk, but big upside.
C.J. Spiller
RB
BUF
It's clear that Spiller possesses rare ability, even against NFL comp; Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch injuries don't hurt.
Mike Williams
WR
TB
Super sleeper is extreme talent, but will he remain a good soldier? Kellen Winslow and Josh Freeman hope so.
Emmanuel Sanders
WR
PIT
Perfect fit in slot; has plenty of experience playing it and more ability to do it than talented Mike Wallace did last season.

Does this year seem to have a stronger or weaker rookie class than most seasons? It seems to me that this year there are a few names and a bunch of nobodies.
