Mike Gonzalez (shoulder) might be heading back to the Baltimore Orioles within the next few days. The lefty pitched an inning Friday for Double-A Bowie, allowing one hit and one walk in one inning with a whiff. He responded well to his back-to-back nights test, throwing a scoreless seventh Saturday while fanning a batter.

He struck out two in 1 2/3 frames Tuesday for Single-A Aberdeen, allowing a solo homer and another hit in the process. Consider him merely saves speculation at this point; Gonzalez will probably have to earn the closer role back from Alfredo Simon.
