In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up?'s Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Chicago White Sox RP Bobby Jenks
    Will Jenks be available?
Bobby Jenks has been unavailable for the Chicago White Sox since tweaking his right calf Friday. It is not believed to be serious, though his status for today is uncertain. Matt Thornton converted the lone save chance Chicago had this holiday weekend. He's the likely option until Jenks returns.
  • Will Ohman gave up two homers in the eighth inning of the Baltimore Orioles' 6-1 loss Sunday. Well, his opponent that day, the Toronto Blue Jays, have been hitting them out at a remarkable pace.
It was also Ohman's first game action after a four-day layoff. The homers were his first runs allowed this season. Finding a bridge to him in the ninth should be a bigger worry than Ohman's Sunday appearance.
The lefty is still your best bet for saves in this 'pen, at least until Mike Gonzalez (shoulder) or Alfredo Simon (hamstring) comes back.
  • The Seattle Mariners' David Aardsma blew his third save of the year Sunday on a three-run walkoff homer. It was a bit of tough luck, though. Aardsma gave up a walk to the first batter on a close pitch with the count 3-2, then missed a chance at a double play later in the inning when the ball bounced out of his glove. Of course, you can't blame luck for the home run.
