In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up?'s Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Milwaukee Brewers RP Trevor Hoffman
    Gather yourself, Trevor
The Milwaukee Brewers' Trevor Hoffman will spend a couple of days working with pitching coach Rick Peterson to fix his mechanics. Hoffman's arm angle has been a little high, per reports. They'll re-evaluate him tomorrow. Manager Ken Macha wouldn't confirm if the Hoff will be considered for closing again.
No closer was named in the interim; Carlos Villanueva's name was mentioned, by Macha, as Milwaukee's most consistent reliever, though. He's your first option. NL-only owners could take a shot on Todd Coffey, at least while LaTroy Hawkins (shoulder) is out.
  • Injured Philadelphia Phillies closer Brad Lidge is expected to meet with a team physician today and could begin throwing tomorrow. Lidge said the swelling in his elbow has gone down since he received a cortisone shot earlier this week.
