In fantasy baseball, the closer position remains volatile. Rarely does every closer hang on to the job for an entire season - injuries, poor performance and managerial decisions can cloud a team's bullpen picture.

Should you be concerned about a struggling stopper? Which relievers are climbing the depth chart? Are any injuries popping up? KFFL.com's Fantasy Baseball Closer Hot Seat keeps you informed when you're looking for saves.

Mound meetings

  • Kansas City Royals RP Joakim Soria
Stop trying to change Soria's role
Texas Rangers stopper Neftali Feliz logged a four-out save Wednesday, throwing 18 pitches. The righty hasn't pitched in back-to-back games as a reliever in the bigs, so it wasn't certain if he'd be available today. The Rangers don't seem too concerned about doing so if and when the possibility arises, as long as it's not two innings per outing.
  • An uneventful ninth from Fernando Rodney sealed the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim victory Wednesday in their first save opp since placing Brian Fuentes (back) on the DL. Setup man Kevin Jepsen worked around trouble he didn't start in the eighth.
  • The Kansas City Royals' Joakim Soria made his second four-out appearance of the season in recording his second closure Wednesday. If Soria owners needed more assurance on the subject, Royals skipper Trey Hillman shot down the notion of bringing in Soria earlier just because the bullpen is struggling.
  • David Aardsma (Seattle Mariners) has not allowed a hit in his first four appearances in 2010 (all saves); he closed the deal last night for the second straight evening. He appears to be relying on his straight heat even more than usual. It's early in the season, but don't forget his past control problems and how lucky he was last year. Aardsma diversifying his arsenal would alleviate concerns, so keep your eye on him.
