"They've put it out there and I've told them I'm all for it. I can do it. I can't wait for (manager Terry Francona) to call me and ask, 'can you do it?' I can do it. I really want to do it."

Updating previous items, The Associated Press reports the New York Mets re-signed SS Alex Cora to a one-year deal worth $2 million Monday, Nov. 30. He can make an extra $1 million in performance bonuses: $250,000 each for 80, 90, 100 and 110 starts. Cora will also receive a $2 million option for the 2011 season that becomes guaranteed if he has roughly 80 starts next year.

Dr. Marc Philippon, who operated on A-Rod, raved about A-Rod's condition in the playoffs. Phillipon said he saw Rodriguez progress from 80 percent strength in May to 95 percent strength in the playoffs. A-Rod is expected to be 100 percent for spring training.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. had a "brief talk" with the Red Sox about the possibility, according to SI.com's Jon Heyman. However, the chances of Lowell being traded to the Phillies are low. Lowell was apparently very close to signing with the Phillies in 2007.
