The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports that the Arizona Diamondbacks are discussing a trade which would send C Chris Snyder to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for 1B Lyle Overbay. Snyder is considered expendable because of the emergence of C Miguel Montero, and Overbay would play first base while 1B Brandon Allen spends more time developing in the minor leagues. Overbay is owed $7 million in 2010 as the final year of a three-year contract, while Snyder is owed at least $11.25 million through 2011, with a $6.75 million option (or $750,000 buyout) for 2012.

He will also have his right flexor/pronator tendon evaluated during the surgery. If the tendon needs to be repaired, he likely would not be ready for the start of spring training but should be ready a short time after. He should be ready for spring training if his tendon does not be repaired.
