Fantasy football busts - Week 1: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Carolina Panthers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Fantasy value: Bench

  • It's risky to play the Panthers right away because they're in a transition season under new DC Ron Meeks. They'll try to put more pressure on the quarterback, but it's far from a guarantee that'll work immediately. Meeks wasn't exactly a defensive whiz with the Indianapolis Colts.
  • As if that didn't make you sweat, the Panthers lost D-tackle Ma'ake Kemoeatu (Achilles') for the season, leaving a huge hole in what was a solid line. Linebackers Jon Beason (knee) and Thomas Davis (knee) are also banged up; there was speculation Beason could miss the season.
  • Philly posted the sixth highest average of passing yards per game in '08 (244.4). Carolina ranked in the middle of the pack in both run and pass defense last season. Quarterback Donovan McNabb is typically adept at avoiding pass rushers.
